PT Squadron 24 Boat 336, reported to Papua New Guinea in February 1944. Bud saw a native woman breastfeeding a baby on one breast and a pig on the other while he was on the boat. The 337 went out with two of his friends, they were sunk and were afloat for 10 days on a raft. Bud was assigned boat 336, squadron 24 in March 1944. Attended Columbia University for 90 days. Bud became an ensign in the USNR. Three packard engines 1,500 H.P. 3,000 gallons of high octane fuel, a top speed of about 40MPH a PY after the was had 3- 1,800 H.P. motors a top speed of 78 MPH, the fastest in the world until the cigarette boats much later. Bud saw a kamikaze sink 3 ships, it hit an ammo ship which exploded so violently that 2 other ships exploded. Tender U.S.S arrested was hit by a kamikaze. Bud’s boat was 100ft away, PT had 24 rockets also 5’DIAx1FT long.
