Lardie, Martin Army

I interviewed Lardie in 2011 at his home in Lansing Michigan.  This bio is being written 4-2021 by Larry Martin.  Lardie was born in 1924.  Like myself he was a Lansing Michigan fireman joining the department in 1950.

Martin Lardie enlisted in the Army in Dec. 1942.  He was a 50 cal.  machine gunner in the anti-aircraft section.  He was assigned to several different Army’s Brattish  8th Army under Gen. Montgomery, American 5h Army under Gen. Mark Clark.   American 3rd Army under Gen. Patton.  He saw combat at Sicily, Anzio,  Monty Cassino, France, Seigfried and Maginot Lines.
