Lt. Francis Angier

Part #1 Lt. Francis Angier B-17 Pilot who flew 33 missions over Germany and other targets in Europe with the 8th Air Force. He also bombed the “Heavy Water” facilities at Pennemunde on the Baltic Coast. This is where the Germans under Werner Von Braun were working on V1 and V2 rockets as well as Heavy Water for Atomic bombs. Francis was shot down and became a POW in Stalag Luft 3 which is where the movie “The Great Escape” took place. The escape was in March of 1944 and Francis was taken prisoner in later in 1944, though Francis met all three of the surviving men from the escape who made it back to England. German troops captured and executed nearly all of the 75 escapees.
