Leyzer Selektor

In this Larry Martin’s World War II In Their Own Words I am proud to present a man who was involved in one battle that was so terrible that there were more deaths and destruction than all of America, England, Austrailia and Canada suffered in the entire duration of World War II.  Mr. Selektor is a former Russian Army officer who fought and suffered through the entire 900 day seige of Leningrad Russia.  The cold reached 25 degrees below O.  Leyzer was a artillery man who  when things were very dire could only fire one artillery shell per day because the Russian were that low on shells.  He will also talk about Joseph Stalin’s political purges of 1937 when most of the senior officers were either killed or sent to Siberian work camps.  Leyzer will be present at the program to answer any questions about the horrible seige of Leningrad.  After the war Leyzer was in the Russian Navy as a submarine officer.
