Francis Angier Army Air Corps

View a DVD interview that Larry Martin filmed with WW II B-17 Pilot Francis Angier who flew 33 missions out of England with the 8th Air Force over much of Europe.  Francis was shot down on his 33rd mission.  He spent about 7 months in Stalag Luft 111 which is where the Great Escape took place about six months before Francis became a POW of Germany.  Francis tells of bombing the German “Heavy Water” plant which was where the Germans were working on a Atomic Bomb.  Francis tells of being hit and blown out of his B-17 and not being able to open his parachute until he was at tree top level because the fuselage if his B-17  was very close to him and he was afraid that his chute would get caught in the plane.
