Bob Dietsch Army Combat Engineer Italy

Bob went into the Army in June 1942.  He was assigned into the 19th Combat Engineer Regiment.  He fought at Anzio, Monte Cassino, Rapido River as well as many other areas in Italy.  Bob was attached to the British 8th Army and has some thoughts about what the American fighting man thought of Field Marshall Bernard Law Montgomery.  As a Combat Engineer he blew up bridges, and buildings as well as taking up booby traps.  He also built different types of bridges, one of them was 2,300 ft. on the Po River completed in 24 Hrs.  long while under fire from Artillery, mortar and rifle in freezing cold water. Bob brought back and will show many German booby traps including the infamous “Bouncing Betty”as well as German weapons, propaganda and much more WW II memoribilia.
